Thanks Anish. Keep the updates coming.

If you have planted a tree, do mail us pictures and also write in a word about the kind of plant/tree that you have planted.

Vaibhav sends an email

The mail below was sent by one of our members to all his friends; educating them about this organization and encouraging them to support by recommending someone.

Hey,

I am mailing you on behalf of ek-titli, hoping that you have received the letter, the email and also the money order, because the money order will surely encourage you to plant a tree.

I have already sent this SET of letters-email-MO to 17 people, literally using up my contacts that I believe will be responsible to plant a tree and help the environment and its cause.

What’s of concern to me is that I have run out of contacts due to which there has been a long pause in sending more of such SETS.

The only solution I have is requesting you to provide me details of people whom you believe will help this cause.

Just scroll down your phone book, or the contacts in your email, or flip through your address book, and I am certain that you will find at least a few to whom such SETS can be sent to.

I request you to send me the contact details and the addresses of these people along with the occasion on which such SETS can be sent.

[ to recommend someone click here otherwise mail us at titli [at] ektitli [dot] org giving us the details. We’ll take it forward from here but we will keep you updated. ]

I believe that this is a good thought, but to help this thought to grow in magnitude and dimension, I will need your participation.

The titli eagerly awaits your mail.

Best wishes and deepest regards.

Vaibhav Dugar

Life Cycle of the ‘titli’

Egg: During the ‘egg’ phase we send ‘letters’ to various people.

Larva: ‘Letters’ reach the respective people in the ‘larva’ phase.

Pupa: The objective is achieved in this phase. i.e., when the recipient plants trees/buys a flower pot/gifts a sapling, etc.

Adult/butterfly/titli: When the same people suggest names and addresses of responsible people to whom such a ‘letter’ can be sent to on various occasions or festivals. This helps the thought and the cause to grow.

Recommending someone is simple. Just click here and fill a form or mail us at titli [at] ektitli [dot] org or copy paste the following link on your address bar:

Thank you Vaibhav for taking this initiative.

We Thank you for your support and we will continue to send more of such letters.

If you want any of your friends, colleagues, relatives to be sent such a letter on any particular occasion or festival, do let us know. This will help the initiative to spread and grow stronger. Click here to recommend someone

I received the ‘letter’, now what?

STEP 1: Thats where the fun begins. If you’ve received a letter or an email, it will tell you what the objective of the “letter” is.

We sincerely hope that the objective is fulfilled.

STEP 2: Mail us contact details of the various responsible people you know to whom such “letters” can be sent.

We need these details so that we can help the organization grow by sending them letters.
Click here if you want to recommend someone responsible.

STEP 3: If you have achieved the objective, why don’t you tell us about it (leave a comment or use our contact form). Send us your photographs, details, etc because each time you inform us, we’ll take it as a compliment.

And a compliment is a good dose of encouragement.

Ek Titli - How it started

We had thought of the concept around the month of November in 2007. The deal was to push people to plant trees and more trees, because we all know the affects of Global Warming and also how important trees are to life. Every living being is affected by a tree. It’s said that the weather patterns are also affected by the number of trees in that area. From Weather to Landslides, from shade to shelter; the tree is the only thing common.

Finally in March, 2008 the idea was conceptualized. A domain was bought. i.e., www.ektitli.org. Ek signifies ONE and Titli signifies Butterfly. i.e., A butterfly.

The life of a butterfly starts on a tree, revolves around a tree and finishes with a tree. Considering, the importance of a tree to a butterfly’s life, we named our initiative “ek titli”.

The objective is to send “letters” (we started with our relatives and friends) asking them to participate in this thought, and help the titli grow. “Letters” are only sent on occasions (birthdays, anniversary, etc) or festivals. And only a fixed amount of “letters” are sent in a month, depending upon the funds we have collected for that particular month.
The participant keep visiting the web page (to see where we have reached) and help us send more letters by recommending someone(to recommend, click here).

For the month of March, our first set of “letters”, a total of 11 “letters” have been sent (on the 17th of March) wishing them a colourful Holi.

We believe that the titli needs a tree and the titli will survive.
