The Green Organization

The Green Organisation

The Green OrganizationEnvironment awareness and preservation has become a bone of contention for each and every organisation today. Entrepreneurs have made headway with all kinds of ventures from pharmaceutical, social, entertainment and communications to the environmental.

The Green Organization is one such independent non-political, non-activist, non-profit environmental group dedicated to recognizing, rewarding and promoting environmental best practices since 1994 in Northampton, UK. It focuses mainly on organizing The International Green Apple Environment Awards – one for best environmental practice and one for enhancing our already built environment and architectural heritage.

The Green Apple Awards 2011 for Environmental Best Practice were presented at the House of Commons on November 14. The awards were presented by Chris Hopkins, founder of Ploughcroft Solar.

Talking to Ek Titli, national coordinator of The Green Organisation, Roger Wolens, says

I have always been interested in nature and I believe we have a responsibility to try and make the world a better place for future generations.

The organisation is currently involved with two projects , a motor engine that converts water into hydrogen and oxygen, and then mixes the gas with the fuel to increase mpg by 100 and a new engine that converts solar power into energy much more efficiently than anything else currently available.

The Green Organisation is funded by membership and sponsorship, with valuable support from the Environment Agency, the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management, the Municipal Journal and several other professional bodies.

According to Roger, commerce and industry in the UK are increasingly aware of the environment, and now that it makes financial sense for them to reduce, re-use and recycle, they are making a greater effort to restore a harmonious balance between industrialization and nature.

The Green Organization not only focuses on environmental awards but also publishes The Green Book, an annual work of reference that has become invaluable to environment professionals around the world. As part of its various voluntary initiatives, it also collects unwanted sports kits and distributes them to children in need; collects used computers, repairs them and re-distribute them to schools, voluntary groups and others who cannot afford state-of-the-art equipment and runs other related programs.

When asked about their expansion plans, Roger says, “We are always pleased to recruit more members and we are going to launch a Europe-wide Green Apple Environment Award scheme for local governments.”

We wish the organization all the very best and many more success in the near future.
